WHEW!
Life
Wednesday, 01 September 2010

Ok, so, it's been a wild, wild, month around here. I've been working on updating my design portfolio and redesigning this site. Hopefully, that will be happening soon. Also, working on an Art Zine called Evidence of a Creative Mind. Please check it out and submit something! And, working on new work for my solo show at SEED opening October 1st at SEED Gallery in Winston-Salem.

Below is a sneak-peek sketch for a print I am working on for the show. Also working on some new fabric work, an art quilt and MORE! Busy is good. Looking forward to the show in October and hope to also have some more prints and fabric work up on ETSY by then, as well. Now you know what the WHEW! title of this post is about! You can also follow along with my progress for the October show on my flickr page, if you wanna. AND, I'll be posting weekly updates to the EOACM Art Zine Blog on wordpress, so check in there, too.

Sneak peek at the HankiePankie Series #2 box art. I know, I know... it's a little sophomoric, but how could I resist given the subject matter?

HankiePankie art handkerchiefs

HankiePankie art handkerchiefs

My new HankiePankie series of art handkerchiefs designed for the Art*O*Mat and individual sale on Etsy is printed at last! This is hankie series #2 for the Art*O*Mat and includes 4 unique hand-drawn hankie designs inspired by vintage hankies (You can see some of the inspiration here). With two colors per design, these took a little longer to print than the last Hankie series. They go in the Art*O boxes as is, but the hankies from this series soon-to-go-on ETSY will be pre-heatset, washed and hemmed so you - the end-user - can get to sneezing even sooner. I better get cracking! (you can see some more pix on my flickr set - just click the images above.

"cut up""fresh" "grounded"

Another sneak peek for the blog. More sketches posted on flickr, in keeping with the art*o*mat theme. I'm also working on a 2nd art*o*mat series that will be my first time printing on wood blocks. Learning a new process (printing on a new substrate) is turning into a great way to challenge myself. If it goes well I may explore printing larger pieces on wood.

Puttering around in the garden, early morning to beat the heat, kept finding lovely shapes and colors to inspire me.

on the path

There's nothing I find better at opening up my head than travel and the freedom and energy it gives. Just got back from a trip that was wonderful, varied and full of inspiring people, places and tastes. Maintaining that sense of wonder now that I am home is a major goal of mine for this summer.

Spent a wonderful Sunday with my mom, making art and hanging out talking. She was teaching me how to paint with Egg tempera, which I had never donw before. I really loved the process and the colors. Can't wait to play with it some more very soon.
